• Johanna Lindsey is capable of greatness I have read stories from her and that have stayed with me for years but this one while nice just did not accomplish the depth and complication that some of her other more suspenseful and exciting romance novels do. I really truly love Duncan but I wish you would have taken his character so much farther he was capable of being a true hero and swooping in and saving the day I'm sad that the ransom part was not more elaborate it almost seemed pointless like an afterthought to the story. Duncan had a lot more to him and I feel so did Sabrina but the story could have used another hundred pages and intricacies to their characters to truly make it worth our while. However I'm excited for the tales to follow this one for I feel she has completely set us up for a great series
• I truly loved this book, but then again I love all of Johanna Lindsey's books. So much so, that I own each one in one form or another, either paperback or hardback. Now, I'm slowly buying each one in e-book form and when I purchased this one, I just had to read it again, because I fell totally in love with the characters the first dozen or so times that I read it over the years. (Yes, my physical book is getting a teeny bit worn.)
  
  Lachlan and Kimberly kept me laughing throughout the story, and the antics of the background characters only add to the charm of this book. If you're looking for a good read that will keep you turning the pages with a smile and laughter in your heart then you can't go wrong with Love Me Forever.
• I want to start out by saying I read this book for the first time several years ago when it was new on the shelves. I was maybe 11 at the time I don't recall, but I do remember thinking the book was very Good and I enjoyed it. So when, years later, I stumbled across it in the kindle edition I thought it would make a great re-read. I couldn't have been more wrong; and I can only attribute my thinking this book was good to youth and I may have exaggerated it in my memory. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME reading this book. I cannot stress that enough. The heroine is Sabrina, however the story is more focused on Ophelia reid (the book series is even called the Reid family). This thoroughly annoyed me. Sabrina is portrayed as unattractive but curvaceous and witty. Her "wit" reads very annoyingly and nonsensical. Also, her character is very weak. She is basically a doormat for everyone in the book, including the hero. He uses her to cheer him up before miraculously falling in love with her, Raphael Locke uses her to relieve his boredom, Ophelia Reid uses her to secure an invitation to summersglade and as a gopher to deliver letters. Overall, her character was very irritating, boring and unbelievable. The hero was not much better and reminded me of an affable buffoon. He seemed not to think of anything, such as storming into Ophelias room or leaving when he realized she wasn't properly dressed. He was very immature and seemed unable to think independently. As for Ophelia; I felt she was a huge cliche. The too pretty mean girl. I got so tired of reading how stunning she was and how she was the most gorgeous woman in creation. Overall this book was very boring (took me about two weeks to read!) I thought the plot was ridiculous, and very slow. The main characters didn't meet each other until several chapters in. I felt no real chemistry between them. No depth to the plot at all, no character substance. The hero just wakes up one day and realizes he's passionately in love w. The heroine. I thought Sabinas family scandal incredibly stupid. I felt like this book was written by a very inexperienced author when I know Johanna Lindsey can deliver amazing work. However, this is not one of them. Save your money and time on this poorly written book.
• This one truly has everything you could want in ANY regency tale. Wife aims to wound, misses. Accidentally she falls, Tragedy. Wothless conniving uncle, perverted sadist, twisted sidekick. Pathos-angst oh and of course a love story, with the whole Malory family "helping" and this is a romance after all. If that's not enough to check this book out I don't know what will. Great great read!!!!
• It seems you really love Johanna Lindsey books or you hate them. There is not much in between. She has written so many books that other than her Mallory series, this is my favorite. Lachlan is a character that is fully grafted and has so many great qualities. Kimberly, the heroine, will melt your heart and cause you to root for her from page one. Many prefer the first in this series about Megan and Devlin but I don't. I think it is because Devlin is so incredibly arrogant that you want to pop him in the head. This is classic Lindsey, and many of her heroes are domineering and overbearing. Not so with Lachlan. He treats Kimberly with so much tenderness you want to have a Lachlan of your own! That is after you discount their first meeting. They both get off on the wrong foot with each other. The background characters are lively, the plot goes fast and you cannot turn the pages fast enough. I even have this book on audible so I can listen to it on my kindle. It is a treasure of a story and a keeper!

• My husband and I are avid travelers, having been to Europe over 25 times, and many other places in the world as well. I always buy the DK books as I’ve loved the bright photo format, with detailed blowouts of major sites, and great walks, with enough description to get me excited. I have over 30 of their books. And I buy Rick Steves for the wordsy format with lots of great tips on skipping lines and good walks etc. The new 2019 DK version is a cheap facsimile, with half the pictures on thin matte paper with dull colors. They tried to expand the areas to visit, which I can appreciate, but with 10 days in Paris, we’re hitting our favorite areas. This guide might be better for someone who lives in Paris and wants to visit the outer arrondissements. Sorry DK, your attempt here missed the mark. I’m grabbing the 2018 Paris version before they’re gone.
• Quality photos on matte pages.
  Improved a lot since the 2005 version with its glossy pages that smudged when I highlighted them.
  This book is informative (to newbie travelers like myself), and looks great at the same time.
  Oragnized by neighborhood.
  Maps give a good visual. There is a paris metro map included in the back flap of the book, which I appreciate.
• Small spaces. Poor coloring. There is a small disappointing flatness on every page.
  I used to love this guide. My husband and I bought it almost every year. This edition is terrible, dull, and mediocre.
  What have you done to us?
• I have a good many other DK guides to Europe and elsewhere, which I enjoy greatly. However, this version of your Paris material is uninspiring and poorly done. The photos are lacking in clarity and the copy is flat. There isn't enough of it to engage the reader. Plus, you reduced the number of pages, which means you cut out a lot of interesting material. For me this is too great a departure from your previous works for me to recommend to anyone. Buy an earlier edition if any are available. Just disappointing. I'd return it, but I've already pulled off the map!

This science-based book doesn't have all the answers, but it does help us understand how it was possible. A concise and not overly esoteric read, authoritative as well.
• Fascinating story of a civilization separate from the old world. A civilization that accomplished great things on their own, much like the story of the the mesoamerican civilizations. Without a compass or sextant or charts of any kind these people learned how to navigate the entire pacific and populate all the pacific islands. This book unravels the mystery of how it was done. I found myself having to constantly refer to a map of the pacific as I read. It might be a good idea to print one out before u start reading.
• Expertly researched, wonderfully written. The complete description of the history of polynesia, Very engrossing and a joy to read.
• A wonderful book that follows European “learning” about the Polynesian settlement of the Pacific Ocean. The perspective is helpful, because it gives readers an understanding of the science and technologies involved, and an emotional interest in the revival of Polynesian culture. The revival, because of all that was lost or destroyed, necessarily relies on science and technology.
• This engaging account tells us what is known about the Polynesians and how it came to be known. This amazing people achieved a feat of marine exploration of thousand of miles of ocean when everyone else in the world was just dabbling in calm waters.
• Thanks, Christina Thompson. Now I have a list of other books to read so I can understand even more! My first reaction to the photo section was frustration that they hadn't been in the text, but in retrospect, it was a nice surprise at the end.
• Polynesians' seafaring exploits have fascinated me for several years. This book is a good introduction. I wish the book had more from Polynesians themselves. My biggest complaint is the small number of maps. In every chapter I wanted to see more of the geographic relationships of the islands and oceans being discussed.
• Book was informative, balanced, and provided a real feeling for the expanse of the Pacific Ocean and the history and skill of those who populated it. It was a great complement to a Roads Scholar Program, which I recently took, about the culture and history of Hawaii taught by a Hawaiian teacher who had sailed and crewed on Hokule'a.

• I liked the simplicity and clarity of the book and the story. Have taught about this for years in my college Introduction to African Civilizations classes. My concern is with the hidden information about the author. There is no background nor an image of the author to be found, at least from my searches, anywhere on the internet. Additionally, the author's name does not appear on the cover of the book and the publisher's name is not found on or within the book. This may be due to the author being a novice publisher and simply not knowing. It does not say much for 's vigilance. On the other hand, the motive for these omissions coupled with the author's secrecy about him/herself could have nefarious implications. In any event, to prevent wild speculation, the author should reveal who they are. Otherwise a good and useful book.
• Informative info, but people who purchase this book should know that it is formatted like a kid's book. Which is great, especially if you want to teach your kids something about African History.
• This was an easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the richest man who ever lived. The story was told in a clear concise manner. The author shared interesting facts and archaeological pictures that added to the beautiful story. The story's format is great for children and adults alike. I hope one day to see a movie made of this story.
• Like most Western-educated people, I know almost no pre-colonial African history. In particular, I had no idea that in the 14th century the empire of Mali ranked with the greatest in the globe. This book begins to fill a significant hole in my education. It is easy to read and I enjoyed the whimsical graphics. Attention teachers! You need this book.
• This book provides an engaging narrative of the history of Mansa Musa's reign of an the African Mali empire that rivaled and even surpassed it's European counterparts. If you are interested in African history or world history in general to be honest, you need to get this book. I used the text to speech feature to have it read to me and it was a good experience. I learned a lot without actually having to read the text, I just listened.
• Well written and full of detail. Positive stories out of west African history are few and far between,Oliver's story helps me believe this may be due to a lack of documentation and not a lack of material. An easy read with beautiful illustration, I would highly recommend for anyone with an interest in African history. Stories like this need to make it into our school's curriculum, our children need to know that African history is more than slavery,genocide, famine and Nelson Mandela.
• I enjoyed reading this book, because it gave me new insights on ancient pre-colonial Africa. The drawings, responsible imagining style conversations and descriptions of sites, emotions and events occasionally leave the impression that the book was written to primary school readers. That is a shame, as this potentially disqualifies it from being taken seriously by adults or professional historians.
  
  Still, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the history of the empires of Africa.
• I second the review that says, "I would like to see a move made of this story". I was just thinking that a movie should be made about this book after I read it today, and before I came back to , and saw that review. I ordered the kindle version of this book today and read it cover to cover. Now, I am back on looking for similar books about different people, because this book was so fascinating. Who knows, now that the Black Panther did well in the box office, maybe someone will create a movie about this.
